World Economic Forum Prepares for Disease X

Alexis Baden-Mayer, Esq., Political Director, Organic Consumers Association:

Now that Anthony Fauci isn’t running the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases anymore, and is no longer doling out grants for “gain-of-function” bioweapons research, he’s less defensive about the origin of COVID-19.

Dr. Fauci even admitted to Congress that SARS-CoV-2 may have come from a lab!

Meanwhile, the World Economic Forum is “Preparing for Disease X” with Event 201-style planning exercises like the 2022 Catastrophic Contagion, set in 2025.

HEALTHY LIVING

Forget Counting Calories – Just Focus On These ‘Medicinal’ Foods

By NewsChain Lifestyle:

“If there was a drug that could boost your metabolism, help weight loss, dampen inflammation and lead to a happier and longer life, it would fly off the shelves.

But such a substance exists, explains consultant bariatric surgeon Andrew Jenkinson, and every one of us uses it many times a day.

‘This elixir of life already exists – it is called food,’ he says. ‘But be warned, the door can swing the other way too – this same ‘drug’ can also cause weight gain, obesity, diabetes, inflammation, allergies and misery.

‘Like any addictive drug, it can interfere with your reward pathways, make you feel unnaturally high, and lead to addictions and the formation of bad habits – and those bad habits and that unhealthy body become you.’

Despite many people’s obsession with counting calories, Jenkinson, who specializes in weight loss surgery and laparoscopic procedures in London’s Harley Street, believes calories are less important than what food does to your body and brain. He’s adamant that if people treated food as a drug, where certain foods are considered ‘toxic’ and others ‘medicinal’, they would be able to lead a healthier lifestyle far more easily.

‘The calories in your food are of secondary importance to your weight and health,’ he insists. ‘It’s what the food does to your body, and just as importantly what it does to your brain, that matters.”

“Once you grasp that food works just like a drug, and that the drug can be either medicinal or toxic, your whole outlook on food will change. Armed with this knowledge, you will have the keys to unlock a healthier life, without needing to resort to willpower, because once you understand how food affects you, you will naturally start to crave good food.’”

REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE

Soil Builds Prosperity From the Ground Up

Breanna Draxler writes for YES! Magazine:

“Respecting the humanity and history of soil can help us grow a more resilient future for all.

When I think about soil, I think about the ecosystem and I think about history,’says Briana Alfaro, administrative program manager at Soul Fire Farm in upstate New York. “I think about the geology that helped create the makeup of what minerals are in the soil.”

Alfaro suggests using the term ‘soil livestock,’ which she recently heard and feels best encapsulates the true work of caring for the soil. ‘It’s another part of farming, right?’ Alfaro explains. ‘It’s another set of beings that you’re responsible for.’

How we respond to that responsibility will have compounding effects for the Earth—and all of us who live here. As the climate warms, and the human population grows, soil will be foundational to our thriving—or our downfall. At a core level, our collective survival will depend on how humans choose to interact with soil.

‘The soil to me is the source of life. That is, it nurtures many of the lives—not just humans, but also the plants and animals and all those tiny things that we can’t even see,’ says Miwa Aoki Takeuchi, associate professor in the University of Calgary’s department of education. ‘When we say ‘rich soil,’ we imagine the soil itself is populated with so many lives and diverse networks.’

And that richness can translate into the systems we use to impart value to other things in our lives and our economy.”

New Lab Created 100% Lethal Brain Virus

In Beijing, scientists have adapted a 100 percent lethal brain-infecting pangolin coronavirus to be infectious to humans. They published a study on January 4, 2024, showing how they were able to sicken humanized mice with a mutant pangolin coronavirus that infected the brain. Every single mouse died.

VICTORY AGAINST MONSANTO

South of the Border: OCA’s International Work

Ercilia Sahores, International Director, Organic Consumers Association:

As you know, OCA has worked internationally for decades, both doing direct work and supporting movements and activists organizing on issues related to health, food safety, consumers’ information, and genetic engineering.

Every week we’ll bring you news from the ground so you can learn more about the work we are doing and be involved and updated on our work on both sides of the border.

The beginning of the year brought another big victory against Monsanto and in favor of native corn:

A precautionary measure was ratified by the Mexican Supreme Court of Justice in August 2021, acknowledging the importance of defending and preserving cultural biodiversity through the 64 races and thousands of corn varieties which make for an integral part of the traditions, culture, food and celebrations of Mexico.

OCA has supported international work in the defense of native corn since the beginning of the campaign.

We support the active resistance of the farmer and indigenous communities, who are still producing  milpa and many diverse species of corn allowing the richness of this big gene pool to continue.
Our International Director at Via Organica, Mercedes López Martínez, is the representative of the class action lawsuit against GMO corn leading the Federal Campaign Sin Maíz no Hay País (Without Corn There is No Country).

The group of plaintiffs against genetically modified corn were able to celebrate the vote against the resolution of a writ of amparo in favor of the Bayer-Monsanto company against the presidential decree for the progressive substitution of the use of glyphosate and the prohibition of transgenic corn.

As we have stated in the past and we will continue arguing, GM corn restriction represents an important market for U.S. and Canadian farmers who will receive premium prices for exporting non-GM corn.

So don’t be fooled, the only ones who will lose by defending native corn are the big usual suspects. This is a win-win for health and economy on both sides of the border.

“We are grains of corn from the same ear, we are one root, from the same path.”  – Otomi poem

ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE

FDA Cites Resistance to Medically Important Antimicrobials as Critical Health Issue

Beyond Pesticides
reports:

“In a move to safeguard public and animal health, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned nine manufacturers and distributors in December last year to stop selling unapproved and misbranded antimicrobial animal drugs, with the director of FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine, Tracey Forfa, explaining to the public that “inappropriate use of medically important antimicrobials contributes to the development of antimicrobial resistance, which affects both human and animal health.”  This action and announcement exhibit a higher degree of concern about antimicrobial resistance—understood as a growing worldwide pandemic—than the history and ongoing inaction by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)—resulting in the allowance of widespread nonmedical uses of antibiotics in agriculture and on synthetic (or artificial) turf.

The FDA enforcement action highlights the growing concern over antimicrobial resistance (AMR), a critical issue that Beyond Pesticides has reported on extensively, especially as related to horizontal gene transfer (the movement of antibiotic-resistant bacteria throughout the environment, ultimately making their way to people, as medically necessary drugs become ineffective).  The illegal marketing of these drugs for minor species, including aquarium fish and pet birds, featuring medically important antimicrobials such as amoxicillin, penicillin, tetracycline, and erythromycin, violates FDA regulations.

Beyond Pesticides’ databases, including Gateway on Pesticide Hazards and Safe Pest Management and Pesticide-Induced Diseases Database, provide advocates with science-based information that informs the urgent need to shift to organic management practices in addressing existential health, biodiversity, and climate crises.”

We Remain Committed

Whether we’re talking about weaponizing viruses, bacteria, and insects in secretive, accident-prone labs, funded for “dual-use” by the military and Big Pharma; or unlabeled and hazardous genetically engineered foods such as the new generation of fake meat and fake dairy products, OCA has your back. We remain committed, as always, to exposing the dangers of Frankenfoods, Frankendrugs, endless war (and biowarfare), and environmental destruction, while planting the seeds of peace, participatory democracy, natural health, and organic and regenerative food and farming.

REGENERATION INTERNATIONAL

The Power of Regeneration in Asia

Oliver Gardiner, Eurasia Coordinator, Regeneration International:

To kick off 2024, we celebrate the RI network in Asia, which now counts over 70 organizations representing millions of farmers from Japan to Pakistan and the Philippines to South Sinai.

These are the true pioneers of regenerative development, often unheard of and committed to fieldwork; they plant, train, advocate and grow solid foundations for people to access safe and nutritious food. Their love for what they do benefits all living beings, and it is RI’s job to help inspire and raise public awareness of the good news of regenerative agriculture, which is happening every day in every country across all continents. We need everyone on board. Join the movement!

Regeneration International is dedicated to expanding our reach and building a global grassroots movement. We rely on dedicated local and international organizations to identify regional best practices, guide our global campaigns and ensure our message of hope through regeneration reaches even the most remote communities.

Organic Rising: Tackling Misconceptions Around Organic

Gaea Denker writes for California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) Organic:

“Organic Rising, the new feature-length film directed by Pulitzer Prize and Emmy Award winner Anthony Suau, is now available to watch online. It aims to demystify organic agriculture, and provides thoughtful, well-researched insights even for consumers who are already well-versed in the merits of organic.

Organic Rising presents a wide range of voices from across the organic and conventional food production spectrum, including people from the CCOF community who have contributed to and helped grow the organic movement since the 1970s.

One of the most compelling ideas the film brings forth is that, while traditional agriculture relies on chemistry, organic agriculture relies on biology. This means organic methods take entire ecological systems into account, from microorganisms in the soil to animals, humans, and water systems. Organic agriculture may demand careful thought in the balancing of all the elements, but once mastered, it provides the sustainable solutions our planet demands.

The documentary has done its homework. It illustrates (often literally, with animations) how harmful synthetic chemicals show up miles away from application. It presents clear studies illustrating synthetic pesticides’ long-term effects on groundwater and the human body. It also showcases uplifting data about carbon sequestration in healthy soil, how organic cattle ranching can restore grasslands, and increases in health and equity when consumers have direct access to organic farm products. It lays out clear, compelling data about market demand and profitability on organic and conventional farms – with similar yields, organic commands higher prices and more profit.”

So much important information from legendary sources is in this film, and our own Ronnie Cummins is featured as well. OCA highly recommends that you watch it!
