PLANTING PEACE

DC Protest Against the War

OCA attended Rage Against the War and the Deep State protest on Sunday in Washington, D.C., where several thousand activists, inspired by a strong roster of speakers with growing alternative media and popular support, Jimmy Dore, Dennis Kucinich, Kim Iversen, Ron Paul, Tulsi Gabbard, and others took the first tentative steps toward building a new national anti-war movement.

Under the banner, “Not a Penny More for Ukraine,” the rally put forth the call for a new alliance between political independents, anti-war libertarians (“Solve America’s Domestic Crises First” rather than building a global Empire) and genuine anti-war, anti-imperialist radical populists.

Following up on the DC protest, OCA will be joining the new anti-war coalition and traveling to Austin, Texas in April for a national gathering of the Movement for a People’s Party, where we believe a new politically independent populist coalition has the potential to develop critical mass, not only around an anti-war platform, but, in the long-term, forge alliances around civil liberties, rural economic development, food, farming, environmental, and natural health issues. More details forthcoming.

In this 20-minute video (viewed by 230,000 people) anti-Ukraine War march organizer and People’s Party founder Nick Brana talks with Redacted podcaster Clayton Morris (1.72 million subscribers) about the current existential/nuclear crisis posed by the US/NATO proxy war in Ukraine and the potential for uniting a critical mass of Americans to push for ending the war, abolishing the CIA and the Deep State, and slashing military spending.

BOYCOTT BIG MEAT

Americans Want Food Subsidies for People, Not GMO Feed for Factory Farms

Saul Elbein reports:

“A new survey has found that 78 percent of Americans want federal farm funding to prioritize food for people over feed for livestock.

The Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future and the farm advocacy group Farm Action published the bipartisan survey of 1000 people on Thursday.

It represented the first time those groups asked explicitly about American crop subsidies — a form of federal aid overwhelmingly spent on growing crops to feed beef and dairy cattle, chickens and pigs.”

The survey is part of a broader campaign that seeks a general reversal in American food policy — with these subsidies being one of its most contentious issues.

It is part of Farm Action’s…Food Not Feed Summit in Washington D.C.,…which seeks to rally change around a proposal to make as much federal support available for fruits and vegetables as for feed grains.

“The United States is really in a crisis when it comes to food and agriculture,” Farm Action President Joe Maxwell told The Hill.

Farm Action believes these subsidy programs support an unsustainable and unhealthy American diet and food system.”

The Collapse and Rebirth of the Peace Movement

Sam Husseini writes:

“The establishment has a whole set of tools it has employed to prevent the left and right from uniting against war and other establishment machinations.

In 2016, Trump’s stance against Muslim immigrants was a galvanizing force to push people into their partisan boxes. But think it through. The US government fueling the Syria war by funding proxies is largely what turned proud people into desperate refugees. And the left and right in the US were largely opposed to that. But they ended up fighting about a result of a policy they both opposed. The left and right agreed on the root of the problem but ended up battling over the symptom.

The root problem was perpetual war, brought to you by the Democratic and Republican Parties…

There is an anti-establishment center. Being pro-peace is at the core of that. But it is hardly limited to that.

War needs people to be in fear. So, yes to civil liberties — as the left and right have come together to oppose the surveillance state. But left-right cooperation extends beyond even this: Opposition to pandemic pronouncements. Stop corporate corruption and Wall Street destroying Main Street and other weakening of the citizenry. Stop the monopolistic power of Big Tech and Big Media and their collusion with Big Government, manipulations of public opinion, criminal justice reform, drug war, education and much else.

A working class person with liberal sympathies has more in common with a working class person with conservative sympathies than either have with establishment elites.”

REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE

The Organic Sector Must Respond to the Public Desire for Regeneration

Paul Holmbeck, IFOAM Organics International leader in Denmark, writes

“‘Regenerative’ has momentum. New partnerships, organizations, finance tools and certifications pop up daily. Those of us who have been working to promote regenerative organic practices for decades—including the organic pioneers at Rodale Institute who coined the term ‘regenerative agriculture’ in the 80s—can rejoice. All newcomers focusing on soil regeneration, biodiversity and climate: Welcome!

But let’s distinguish between serious regenerative actors, like farmer allies working for practices and policies similar to those we work for in IFOAM… and those like Syngenta, where the ill-defined ‘Regen Ag’ allows Syngenta to re-brand itself as a ‘regenerative’ champion while continuing with pesticides as its core business.

Regenerative momentum is partly explained by this attractive, easily exploited ambiguity. Claiming regenerative goals and practices also helps delay the more ambitious political steps needed to address crises in food security, climate and loss of biodiversity. Regeneration also just feels right. The craftsmanship appeals to farmers. And Hollywood has made soil sexy. Respect. Let us be inspired by the soil and landscape aesthetic in regen PR. We need to communicate with more heart about what we fight FOR in organics!

We must also call out greenwashing. And the repeated false claims of regen being ‘beyond organic.’ It’s not. These claims are always based on comparisons between regenerative ASPIRATIONS (maximum goals) and organic guarantees (minimum standards). All regenerative aspirations are already firmly embedded in the international organic principles in IFOAM. Of course, our unique global infrastructure of standards and certification gives consumers a real guarantee, not available from ‘regenerative.’ Despite this, the regenerative idea is competing for the ‘sustainable alternative’ space among food companies, retailers, philanthropists and policy makers. There is real risk that leading corporate, NGO and philanthropic interests set an attractive but diffuse ‘regenerative’ agenda drawing policy, farmers, funding streams and market focus away from the real food systems change that organics and agroecology represent.

To recapture momentum Regenerative Organic Certification was launched in the U.S., building additional social, climate and animal welfare steps on USDA organic standards. Companies like Tradin Organic are already selling certified regenerative organic products…”

No Legal Basis for US to Dispute Mexico’s GMO Corn Ban

Timothy Wise and Sharon Anglin Treat report:

“A high-level delegation from the Mexican government visited Washington in January to discuss a series of bilateral trade issues, one of them being U.S. government and biotech industry claims that Mexico’s intention to restrict imports of genetically modified corn in 2024 violates the new Agricultural Biotechnology provisions in the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) that replaced NAFTA in 2020. Three years ago, the Mexican government announced its intention to phase out the use of the herbicide glyphosate and the importation of GM corn, citing both public health and environmental reasons.

U.S. and Mexican agribusiness interests responded with a demand that the U.S. government threaten Mexico with a USMCA trade dispute, arguing that the new USMCA provisions guarantee their rights to export GM corn to Mexico. Mexico is the largest export market for U.S. corn, nearly all of which is genetically modified. The Mexican government has shown a willingness to negotiate the 2024 deadline, delaying the prohibition on GM feed corn imports, which constitute the vast majority of US exports to Mexico. Industry representatives continue to demand trade action from the U.S. government.

But does the Mexican action actually violate the Agricultural Biotechnology provisions of the USMCA? Senior trade attorney at the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy (IATP) Sharon Anglin Treat did a detailed textual analysis of the agreement earlier this year and concluded that Mexico is not obligated to accept GM corn exports from the United States if it has legitimate concerns about public health or the environment…”

JIMMY DORE

America is a Failed State Run by Psychopaths

From COVID dictates to the proxy war in Ukraine and the latest threats of war on China, America’s ruling elite and Deep State, aided and abetted by the WEF and the global elite, are out of control.

Two of OCA’s favorite commentators, Kim Iversen and Jimmy Dore, tell it like it is:

“The US is spending millions of dollars shooting down weather balloons, blowing up natural gas pipelines and bringing us to the brink of nuclear war with Russia and China… Americans are the most propagandized people in the world and have no idea that they are… and the Psychopaths are the people who won’t even give their own people health care while they’re sending 100 billion dollars in bombs to kill other people… the Psychopaths did it to Iraq, we did it to Libya, 20 years in Afghanistan, and we’re still doing it to Syria… isn’t it amazing how people can get so outraged at Vladimir Putin invading Ukraine… but not even a blink of an eye to the US occupying a third of Syria—the oil part…”

Probiotics for Moms & Babies: Health or Hype?

Longtime OCA ally and renowned pediatrician Dr. Michelle Perro writes:

“Since the introduction of the term probiotics in 1965… the plethora of information and products available can be overwhelming. Additionally, as new studies lend further information regarding the microbiome and its function as an organ, how to best support our mutual cohabitants especially for babies can be daunting.

A quick review – the gut microbiome provides a broad range of functions including the following:

  • The digestion of particles from food into nutritional products,
  • Detoxification of xenobiotics,
  • Support of intestinal cell lining integrity,
  • And immune system modulation.

Over the past decade, our knowledge of microbial function has become more fine-tuned.  There is now a greater understanding of the gut microbiome in relation to various clinical scenarios such as pregnancy. The various conditions that can occur during pregnancy such as metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and intestinal permeability can shift the maternal inflammatory state, which can negatively affect the fetus…”

Could Fauci’s Likely NIH Replacement, Peter Hotez, Be Even Worse?

Mercola.com reports:

Dr. Anthony Fauci stepped down from his position as director the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in December 2022.

Dr. Peter Hotez, dean for the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, is a likely replacement.

Hotez’s career has been largely devoted to developing drugs to test on ‘underdeveloped and hyper-exploited countries in Latin America, South Asia and Africa,’ while much of Hotez’s success can be traced back to Fauci, Bill Gates and Bill Clinton.

Hotez was instrumental in propelling ‘neglected tropical diseases’ into a key initiative that needed to be addressed with drugs and vaccines, instead of addressing sanitation… Hotez is portrayed in the media as a heroic guru out to save the world by developing ‘life-saving’ vaccines — one who’s being targeted by a ‘powerful anti-vax lobby.’ He was even nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. But the real Peter Hotez is a person who pushes for mass vaccination using experimental drugs and vilifies anyone who advocates for vaccine choice and informed consent…”

‘Are My Kids Safe?’: Norfolk Southern Skips Town Hall as Residents Demand Answers on Health Impacts of Toxic Disaster

Jake Johnson reports:

Anxious and angry residents of East Palestine, Ohio, gathered for a town hall Wednesday night hoping to get answers about the potential health impacts of a massive train derailment and chemical spill that put their small village in the national spotlight.

But those who wanted to hear directly from the company at the center of the toxic disaster — Norfolk Southern — pulled out of the event hours before it began, expressing concerns about ‘the growing physical threat to our employees and members of the community… stemming from the increasing likelihood of the participation of outside parties.’

News that company officials would be a no-show infuriated East Palestine residents who are worried about the health and safety of their families in the wake of the train crash — and the subsequent release of hazardous chemicals such as the carcinogen vinyl chloride into the atmosphere and waterways.”
