Coconut oil. Health experts recommend it. Consumers love it. But how many of us think about how the coconut oil on the store shelf was produced, and how the people who helped produce it were treated? 

“Everything we buy and sell has a human component to it,” says David Bronner. “Some human labor went into that thing you’re buying. Was that labor respected, or was it exploited?”
