UNION CITY, Tenn. — Union City officials have issued a boil water alert until around 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Water pressure has been restored and the water tanks are filling back up, according to city leaders.

City Manager Kathy Dillon said there were complications when trying to connect the new water reservoir to the water system, which caused the water tanks to drain.

As we head into the weekend, Union City residents are asked to do their best to save their water.

Union City has faced two critical water situations within the last two weeks. As water lines were cut, customers were forced to resort to extreme conservation measures.

Mayor Terry Hailey says he will let residents know when the situation is resolved.
