Peaceful Village Raw Vegan Healing Community
Peaceful Village Raw Vegan Healing Community is a semi-private intentional community located in the northern Amazon region of ecuador. Our land spans more than 21 hectares and is blessed with three pristine rivers, tranquil streams, cascading waterfalls, and untouched mountain forests — both primary and secondary growth. Peaceful Village practices veganic growing methods rooted in respect for life and ecological balance. On our Amazonian land, we avoid all animal-derived inputs (manure, bone meal, fish meal, feather meal, etc.) and synthetic chemicals, instead building fertility from plant-based composts, humanure, urine-based nutrients, and abundant organic mulch. We prioritize biodiversity and soil health by combining these core practices:
– Food forests and agroforestry: Diverse layers of fruit and native trees, shrubs, palms, and groundcovers mimic native forest structure to maximize yield, habitat, and resilience.
– Veganic composting and humanure systems: Carefully managed plant-only compost and sanitized humanure cycles nutrients back into the soil while preventing contamination.
– Vegan compost teas and urine fertilization: Nutrient-rich teas and diluted urine provide targeted, renewable feeding without animal inputs.
– Mulching and cover crops: Thick mulches and green manures conserve moisture, suppress weeds, feed soil life, and prevent erosion in our tropical climate.
– Companion planting and polycultures: Intentional plant combinations reduce pests, improve pollination and nutrient sharing, and replace monoculture vulnerability with stability.
– No domesticated animals: Peaceful Village does not keep domesticated or captive animals on the land. We do not use Horses, Donkeys, Oxen, Sheep, Chickens, Cows, Pigs, Fish, Bees, or any animals kept in sanctuaries, and we do not keep Dogs or Cats as property. We honor the freedom of all beings and prioritize their living freely in natural habitats.
– Minimal-till and soil-building: Reduced disturbance protects soil structure and fosters fungal–bacterial balance essential for tropical soils.
– Water stewardship: We collect rainwater, protect rivers, and streams sources, and use various methods and plants to minimize erosion, build topsoil, and restore the Earth.
– Native forest conservation and selective harvesting: Large tracts of native forest are left untouched; any tree removal is selective, minimal, and followed by reforestation with fruit and native species.
– No chemical inputs: We avoid pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizer products labelled as “natural” or “organic”; using vegan compost and mulch when needed.
– Seed saving and local varieties: Emphasis on heirloom and locally adapted varieties preserves genetic diversity and reduces dependence on outside inputs.
– Renewable energy and low-impact infrastructure: Off-grid solar power, low-footprint building techniques, and careful waste management reduce our ecological footprint.
These veganic and regenerative practices support a self-sustaining cycle: healthy soil produces abundant, pure plant foods; diverse ecosystems sustain pollinators and beneficial organisms; clean water and conserved forest preserve local biodiversity; and minimal external inputs keep the community ecologically and ethically aligned. Together, they form the foundation of Peaceful Village’s commitment to environmental sustainability and to teaching others how to cultivate land in ways that heal both people and planet.
