Bosque Matilde

Bosque Matilde is a land-based regenerative project located in Mulchén, in the Biobío region of Chile. Since 2020, it has functioned as a living laboratory for regenerative organic agriculture and land management, transforming a previously compacted pasture into a diverse, productive forest system. Through agroecology, syntropic agriculture, and forest-based food systems, the project focuses on restoring soil health, increasing biodiversity, improving water retention, and working with natural succession processes rather than against them. Food production—including artisanal preserves, fruit processing, and fermented products—is directly linked to these regenerative practices, ensuring that ecological care and production remain inseparable.

Beyond production, Bosque Matilde promotes regeneration through education and community engagement. The site operates as a small-scale demonstration center where children, farmers, students, and visitors participate in hands-on learning experiences centered on soil, seeds, seasonal cycles, and forest stewardship. A core component of the project is the cultivation, exchange, and safeguarding of traditional and native seeds, reinforcing food sovereignty and long-term ecosystem resilience. By integrating land management, cultural memory, and slow, place-based learning, Bosque Matilde supports regenerative agriculture as both an ecological practice and a social process.
