ARE WE EATING GENETICALLY MODIFIED ORGANISMS?
HAWAII CONSUMERS DESERVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW!
Deadline for Action: Thursday, February 28, 2008

If
you’re like 85% of Hawaii residents, you want labeling
for genetically engineered foods and you want to know whether
farmers are growing these crops nearby. Two bills have been
introduced in the Hawaii State Legislature that will do
just that.

•
SB3232 would require labeling for all genetically engineered
whole foods sold in Hawaii (fruits and vegetables in their
raw or natural state)

•
SB3233 would compel companies to reveal the location of
test plots and production of genetically engineered crops.

Please
call Senator Jill Tokuda, Chair of the Agriculture/Hawaiian
Affairs Committee, at 587-7215, and Senator Ron Menor, Chair
of the Energy/Environment Committee, at 586-6740, to urge
them to hold hearings on the bills.
