Last week the Minnesota Senate Health Committee passed SF 380, a bill that will make it more difficult for parents to opt their children out of vaccination.

SF 380 is an outright attempt to make it more difficult for parents to exercise their fundamental right to make health and wellness decisions for their children.

TAKE ACTION: Tell the Minnesota Senate to Protect the Conscientious Vaccine Exemption and Vote No on SF 380!

Under current law, parents can opt children out for medical reasons, if approved by a doctor, or for conscientious objection, if they submit notarized forms to the children’s school.

SF 380 would instead require parents to talk to a physician and obtain a statement verifying that the physician reviewed information about the risks and benefits of vaccines consistent with information published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Children today receive 69 doses of vaccines for 16 different viral and bacterial illnesses—double the government-recommended childhood schedule of 34 doses of 11 different vaccines in the year 2000.  Thirty-five doses and five more unique vaccines have been added to the schedule in the last 15 years.

Last week’s committee hearing on SF 380 led to an intense exchange between those in favor, and those who oppose the bill. Unfortunately we can’t share it with you directly because the office in charge of audio files has lost the audio recording for this important hearing! Dr. Toni Bark, M.D. testified on behalf of vaccine exemption rights. She gave a detailed description of the problems associated with the implementation of vaccine programs and the risks to families.

Please help stop this attack on the fundamental right of parents make health and wellness decisions for their children. Click here to contact your Senator today!
