Chlorpyrifos is considered a highly hazardous pesticide (HHP), and its hazards to human and environmental health have resulted in its ban in over 40 countries, including Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Thailand, Vietnam, and in the countries that make up the European Union. Yet many global industries still rely heavily on chlorpyrifos for pest management, including the banana industry.
