For over a decade millions of us – more than 90% of all Americans – have told corporations and politicians that we want genetically engineered foods to be labeled.
Yet unlike consumers in nearly 50 other countries, you still don’t have the right to know what’s in your food. Why not? Because corporations like Monsanto, DuPont, Dow, Pepsi, Coca-Cola – the Goliaths of the biotech and processed food industries – have manipulated the political process to keep you from knowing if your food has been genetically engineered, laced with gene-altered bacteria, viruses, antibiotic-resistant genes, and foreign DNA.
In the past two years alone, 19 states have failed to pass GMO labeling laws. Now, for the first time, we have a real shot at restoring our right to know, and empowering consumers to drive hazardous GMO food off the market for good.
Proposition 37, the California Right to Know Genetically Engineered Food Act, is a citizens’ ballot initiative. This initiative has grown out of an unprecedented grassroots-powered movement, spearheaded by organic consumers and natural health advocates like you who are fed up with political corruption and corporate tyranny. People like you, who know that the companies who lied to us about DDT, Agent Orange, PCBs and other toxic chemicals cannot be trusted to tell us the truth about the dangers of genetically modified foods.
The Biotech Goliaths are charging forward. They’ve raised a war chest of more than $27 million to bombard the airwaves with lies and distortions in order to scare voters into thinking that a truthful label on their food is a bad and dangerous idea. Our side has raised $4 million, but we’ve got truth and numbers on our side.
We can’t out-raise and outspend Monsanto and friends. But with the help of millions of determined and passionate people like you, we can raise enough money to educate consumers who, in many cases, don’t even know they’re feeding hazardous GMOs to their families. With your financial support we can mobilize thousands of volunteers to distribute signs and leaflets, to make phone calls, to table in front of supermarkets, to help get out the vote.
Early voting for the Nov. 6 Ballot Initiative begins Oct. 9 in California – less than one month away. Your donation of $10, $50, $100, or whatever you can afford today, will help us get the word out to every voter in California that if they – and all the rest of us – want the right to know what’s in our food, we have to win in California. Passing this state law in California will have the same impact as a national labeling law. Big food and beverage brands have already admitted that they will be forced to label nationwide if Prop 37 passes in California.
Let’s show Monsanto and the biotech bullies that we will no longer be treated like lab rats, nor lambs being led to slaughter. Let’s tell them that we now know that it’s no coincidence that an entire generation of people raised on GMO foods suffer from allergies, obesity, cancer, autoimmune and organ diseases.
