If we are going to live so intimately with these chemicals—eating and drinking them, taking them into the very marrow of our bones—we had better know something about their nature and their power. – Rachel Carson, “Silent Spring”

Dr. Thierry Vrain is a scientist who knows something about the nature and power of the chemical pesticides used in GMO crop production—especially glyphosate, the main ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide.

Join Go Green Oak Park for a public lecture by Dr. Thierry Vrain on GMOs and glyphosate toxicity on April 10 in Evanston and April 12 in River Forest! RSVP here.

After a career as molecular biologist and genetic engineer, Dr. Vrain took on gardening as a serious hobby and began to realize, through hands-on experience, the damage that pesticides cause to the soil. He started reading scientific research on the risks of genetically modified crops and he decided he had to speak out.

I became concerned a few years ago that there were so many scientific studies pointing … away from the GMO smokescreen. I am now publicly raising the alarm about the current excesses of industrial agriculture, particularly antibiotic contamination of engineered crops and food. – Dr. Thierry Vrain

Dr. Vrain refutes Big Biotech’s claims that their engineered crops produce higher yields, require less pesticide use, have no impact on the environment and, of course, that they are safe to eat.

Not only is Dr. Vrain an expert at analyzing the scientist research available GMOs and glyphosate toxicity, he’s also skilled at explaining the science to the general public—you won’t want to miss this opportunity!

Discussions after each presentation will be led by Dr. Susan Buchanan, director of the Great Lakes Center for Children’s Environmental Health at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
