The town of Brighton has announced the creation of the Green Brighton Task Force following the lead of national, state and county governments in making strides to improve the environment.

Green Brighton will act as Brighton’s leading agency for environmental change after the town council unanimously approved an adoption of the Mayors’ Climate Protection Agreement in May.

The agreement states that participating cities will “Strive to meet or beat the Kyoto Protocol targets in their own communities, through actions ranging from anti-sprawl land-use policies to urban forest restoration projects to public information campaigns.”?

Along with Rochester, Brighton is the only other community in the immediate area to have signed on to the agreement with more than 500 other governments around the country. […]
