  Villas Ecotucan Ecological Resort is surrounded by jungle and located on the shores of the beautiful Laguna Bacalar, one of Mexico’s largest freshwater lakes. At Villas Ecotucan you can stay in one of five comfortable and spacious stone cabins with thatch roofs, surrounded by tropical gardens and reminiscent of a Mayan settlement offering guests a tranquil base for relaxing with nature. The villas are located at kilometer 27.3 on highway 307, five kilometers north of the small town of Bacalar. They are about 350 km south of Cancun and about 200 km north of Belize City. The closest major city is Chetumal, capital of the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. Chetumal is about 40 km south of Bacalar and easily reached by car or public transportation and the border of Belize is only 30 minutes away.
