  I have been in the childbirth field for about 24 years and have been doing paid doula work for about 14 years. As a doula, I rely heavily on massage, comfort measures, position changes, and relaxation/breathing techniques. I am also a childbirth educator so I tend to provide my clients with quite a bit of information regarding the labor and birth process should they want that. Since no two births are exactly alike I like to tailor my services to fit the needs of my clients. I feel strongly that there is no "right" way to labor or birth. Every medication and intervention available is there for a purpose though most people don't need to utilize all of them. My job, as a doula, is to support my clients in whatever they choose. I work in concert with Dads and other support people in the room though for some clients I have had Dads/partners who really wanted guidance from me but wanted to be the main person to provide comfort. I am flexible and, as I said, like to create services that fit the needs of my clients.
