  Passion, respect, nurture, honor, and empower are words that come to mind as I define my role as a doula. Passion is what I feel as I nurture a woman in labor, respecting her as a person, honoring her wishes, and empowering her to be the powerful birth mama I know she can be. Supporting a mom and her partner and assisting them in achieving their goals is an important part of what I do. Seeing their faces as their child is placed in their arms is a special moment - a moment I consider sacred. I assist mamas on becoming informed, directing her to helpful resources so that she knows her options and understands them. I support HER choices without making decisions for her. I have had experience with hospital births, birth center births, and home births; epidurals and other pain medications; cesareans; vaginal births after cesareans; births with no medications or interventions; and water births.
