  As a birth doula, I provide emotional, physical support & education during pregnancy, labor & postpartum. I work with families before BirthDay by providing education about choices, I teach comfort measures for labor, and I help build confidence in a woman's ability to give birth. I stay with you from the moment you ask me to join you after labor begins (usually still at your home) and I don’t leave you until the baby is born, regardless of how long that may be. Along the way, I can provide reassurance and perspective about the process, and help with relaxation, massage, positioning and other techniques for comfort. I have been a Certified Doula (through DONA) since 2003. During that time, I have had the opportunity to attend a variety of different kinds of births: Hypnobirths ™, water births, birth center births, VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) births, 1st time moms, 4th time moms, twins, medicated, non-medicated, and a variety of other special situations. Because of this variety, I feel very comfortable and confident about birth - but still always in awe of how powerful and amazing the experience is every time. Alongside my doula practice, I also work as a Prenatal Massage Therapist, a Certified Lamaze Childbirth Educator, and a Lactation Counselor. I have a well-rounded knowledge of pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding, and I love attending conferences and workshops about birth. I proudly refer to myself as a Birth Nerd!
